How To Reduce Pigmentation

No matter what your age, pigmentation is a common problem. It can be caused by everything from sun damage to birth control pills, and it shows up as darker patches on the skin.

Pigmentation can be reduced with expensive treatments like laser therapy and microdermabrasion, but these can cost hundreds of pounds and need to be repeated every few months. Luckily, there are cheaper home remedies that can be used daily to reduce pigmentation.

Pigmentation

is the appearance of dark patches on the face, or the skin at large. It's usually caused by either sun damage, hormones or inflammation.

If your skin pigmentation is mild, it's probably best to look after your skin and wait for it to fade naturally. But if you want to speed up the process, there are plenty of products that can help. Though we're not saying that any of these will have miraculous effects overnight (if only!), they can certainly help tackle pigmentation over time.

What are causes of Pigmentation?

Age: As you grow older, your body produces more melanin, which makes your skin darker. This is called senile freckles or age spots.

Sun: It can damage the skin. If you have been exposed to the sun for a long time and haven’t used any protection, you will develop brown patches on your face.

Hormonal imbalance: Hormonal changes during pregnancy, menstruation or menopause can lead to pigmentation.

Skin trauma: If you have suffered from cuts, blisters or burns in the past, they can leave behind dark spots on your skin. People who have undergone surgery also develop scars and pigmentation post-surgery.

Side effects of medication: Some medications like contraceptive pills and anti-malaria drugs can cause pigmentation.

Genetics: People with a family history of skin pigmentation are more likely to suffer from it as compared to others.

Here are 6 ways to reduce pigmentation naturally:

1. Cleanse deeply

Cleanse your face everyday with a mild cleanser. If you use a cleanser containing soap, it will make your skin dry and you will develop more red patches.

Wash your face twice per day: once in the morning (with warm water) and once at night (with lukewarm water). In the morning, it's okay to use soap; at night you should only use cleanser.

2. Sunscreen

Use a sunscreen lotion every day before going out in the sun as it helps to protect your skin from harmful rays of the sun and prevent excessive tanning.

Sunscreen is one of the best ways to prevent skin pigmentation as it works to block out harmful UV rays from penetrating into your skin. The rays increase melanin production and can stimulate hyperpigmentation. If you are going outdoors, always apply sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher.

3. Balanced Diet

Darkening of skin is an indication of some deficiency in your diet. So, eat a balanced diet rich in all essential vitamins and minerals. What you eat has a big impact on the health and appearance of your skin. Try eating more fresh fruit and vegetables, whole grains and lean meat.

You should also avoid processed foods, which tend to contain high levels of salt and sugar. Too much salt in your diet can cause water retention, which makes the skin puffier and less even in appearance.

4. Lemon Juice

You can also prepare a face pack with one tablespoon of lemon juice and one teaspoon of honey with one teaspoon of turmeric powder and apply it on the affected area for 20 minutes daily and wash it off with plain water for positive results.

Lemon juice contains citric acid which helps to lighten dark spots. Apply lemon juice directly onto your face using a cotton ball and leave it on for 10 minutes before rinsing off with water. You can also make a mixture of chopped parsley leaves and lemon juice and place it on affected areas overnight.

5. Water

Drink plenty of water every day to hydrate your body from inside to keep your skin healthy and glowing from outside.

Drink at least 8 glasses of water everyday.

Water will help you lose weight, improve your digestive system and flush out toxins from the body. It can also boost your immune system by keeping you hydrated and healthy. For that natural glow, drink plenty of water and keep yourself hydrated.

If you want a flawless skin complexion, drink at least two liters of water daily to flush out toxins from the body and prevent excessive oil production in the skin.

6,Natural exfoliation

Exfoliating your skin on a regular basis can be beneficial for a range of concerns, including acne scars, scarring and uneven skin tone.

Using exfoliation scrubs can be helpful in reducing hyperpigmentation as they help to slough off dead skin cells that have built up over time and reveal new healthy cells underneath.

You are so beautiful and so worthy of love just the way you are.

It's okay to have a pigmentation. It's okay to have a freckle or a blemish. Don't be ashamed of the marks, scars, or blemishes that you may have. They are all part of who you are and they make you who you are
