Things You Need To Know About Wedding Makeup

Updated: Apr 20, 2022

Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life. Therefore, you need to ensure that every decision you make, such as the wedding gown, choice of venue, and, more importantly, the makeup, is up to your expected standards. Here are some things you need to know about wedding makeup that will make you look amazing.

Choose quality foundation

The type of foundation you use will determine the overall appearance of your makeup. Do not, under any circumstances, choose a house-brand cheap foundation. It will cake and slide off your face before the ceremony is halfway over. Therefore, it is best to spend more money buying quality makeup than going for the cheap ones. Alternatively, you can ask a professional to do your wedding makeup to avoid buying counterfeit makeup that will still make your makeup slide off your face before the end of the event.

Apply eyeshadow wisely

Do not wear an eyeshadow that matches your skin tone without first applying some sort of base on top of your eyes. Because if you do, it will look like you're wearing eye shadow for concealment purposes only. Concealment purposes mean someone knows what they're doing, but in the real sense, they do not.

Avoid a natural look.

A wedding is all about the attention being directed to the bride. Therefore, lean towards a neutral look that doesn't call attention to your face. While bright colors can be fun and lots of brides love them, they may not look good on everyone. A little bit of cover-up can cure this problem by toning down your makeup and letting the real you shine through, even if that means trying on something outside your comfort zone.

Keep it classy

Do keep it classy and not in an old-fashioned way but modern. Instead of going for the old school look, going for the 'makeup is supposed to compliment my features and look natural.' However, you should not go overboard with that either. Most of us have seen too many of these poor girls trying to get fancy only to look like they're wearing masks on their wedding day.

Try different looks before the big day.

It is important to try different looks before settling on your final product. While one person might find red lipstick sexy or an eye-catching blue eye shadow bright, another may think it's ideal for their wedding makeup. Different looks will enable you to choose the best look for your big day.

Remember that a wedding is not a beauty pageant, so don't let your makeup tell everyone that you've won first place. A little bit of blush, concealer, and mascara are all you need to look pretty. Have someone do it for you if you're going for something fancier and don't want the hassle of applying it at home and getting it right at your wedding. There's nothing wrong with admitting that you may not be able to pull off an extravagant look without help.
